Happy sunday Books Lovers,

today, after a few months since its release for Rizzoli that I thank for the copy, I can finally review Light years written by Kass Morgan, author of the books known to have inspired one of my favorite TV series of all time that is still going on, unlikely many series that I follow that have been deleted, I’m talking about The 100. If you remember I also mentioned it in the TV series to watch posts. Light years is very similar and at the same time completely different from The 100.

The story, told in third person, is explored from four points of view. The protagonists of this galactic story are Orelia, Tarran, Vesper and Cormack.

Among them they are completely different from each other. They all have secrets, some bigger and more dangerous, some smaller ones, that are revealed at the beginning of the book in the chapters concerning the various characters. All 4 were chosen to study at Quatra’s exclusive aerospace academy.

Vesper is the daughter of the admiral of Quatra’s fleet. Her mother claims that it’s because of her that Vesper is in the academy, she had to use a lot of knowledge to get her in. Vesper, however, feels oppressed by her mother’s expectations, because she knows she can do better and become captain of her team.

Arran entered the academy with the highest grades and took this fantastic opportunity by leaving his mother alone on Chetire, his planet. When he knows Dash at the academy, things start to get a little more complicated.

Orelia is the one who has perhaps the most dangerous secret of all, because she is not a inhabitant of the Quatra system, but is an infiltrator of enemies to destroy the academy.

And then there’s Cormack who didn’t even sign up for the academy, his brother had made it and got in, but he died in the mine, and Cormack had decided to honor his last wish, go to the academy pretending to be Rex.

They all end up on the same team, so these 4 characters meet and become attached to each other, helping each other and looking over each other’s backs.

The adventure certainly does not lack in this book and the narrative is hypnotic. This was my first book by Kass Morgan, but only from this I can see that she is a spectacular author and now I am anxious to know what will happen in the second volume of which the title in the original language is Supernova.

Mi chiamo Miriam e sono l'amministratore di Me and Books.
