Book Lovers,

I finally found time to read Holly Black’s Cruel Prince, and I’m really glad I took these two days to read it. At the end of the reading I regretted not having read it before. The harmony and the tide of emotion that Black puts inhers in her books always leaves me stunned, and the fact that I managed to read this book in just two days says a lot given all the commitments and stress that are engulfing me in this period.

I couldn’t get off the pages. Reading about characters so well written, who manage to convey their emotions to me simply through their actions always amazes me. Holly Black writes about tormented boys, fish out of water who would just like to be accepted, angry, conflicted with each other for futile reasons.

Cardan is obviously my favorite character. A cruel prince who is really just a boy abused by his own family, and then there is Jude, a human who has been brought into the fairy kingdom, along with her sister, by the murderer of their parents to live there, even if she will always be seen as a human, even though she would like to be more.

And then there are the King and all the other princes and princesses, too busy from their court life to see what surrounds them, and finally, but not least, there are Cardan’s spoiled and evil friends, much more cruel than him. There’s Locke, a trickster who will only fool Jude and her twin, there’s Valerian who in my opinion is the cruellest of them all and will try several times to take Jude out, and then there’s Nicasia, daughter of the queen of the abyss, who is just jealous of Jude.

As for the story, to understand it thoroughly and savor it you really have to read it all the way, getting to the unexpected twists, and trust me, you will fall in love with this trilogy. I look forward for Mondadori to publish the second volume, and a few days ago the cover of the final volume of the trilogy, The Queen of Nothing, was revealed.

Mi chiamo Miriam e sono l'amministratore di Me and Books.
