Hello Books Lovers,

Are you following the new season of Riverdale? I only have a couple of episodes left to finish the fourth and finally start the new one, but in honor of this new season, the fifth, mondadori has published another book, sequel to get out of town, set in the world of Riverdale with our favorite characters. The title of this is: death of a cheerleader.

Chronologically we are between seasons four and five, so I would advise you, from personal experience, not to read it again if you haven’t completed the previous season. I haven’t done it yet and I found some small spoilers, nothing important, but maybe even if small, not everyone likes spoilers.

Having said that, let’s move on to the plot which has no spoilers about it. The last year of high school is finally over, our protagonists have graduated and decided to split up to spend a weekend each in their own way. The girls retire to the campsite, the boys organize a poker night at La Bon nuit.

But like any self-respecting Riverdale-style story, things quickly degenerate. The girls are not alone, there are cheerleaders from two other high schools and they are already at loggerheads over their own business, it won’t be an easy weekend, and then stranger things start happening, like a girl who nearly drowns in the lake and then it’s up to Betty, the great detective that she is, to find out what’s going on.

As for the boys, on the other hand, not even they can spend time in peace of course. While they are playing the light goes away and when it returns all the money is gone. But who could have stolen them if not one of them? It is also here that Jughead’s help will be needed to resolve the situation.

In short, in Riverdale everything is always an adventure. And I repeat what I said also with the previous books in the series, Micol Ostow’s writing is very beautiful, she makes descriptions so vivid that it makes it seem like you are watching the TV series and not reading words in a book. It is always a pleasure for me to read something about her and I really hope there will be another one between season 5 and 6, the inventiveness is spectacular and follows the real events of Riverdale to perfection.

When there is no series there are books to compensate, by now riverdale is a complete world at 360 degrees and for this reason I give 4.5 stars to this volume which has perhaps the most beautiful cover of all, and then these books despite being a saga they can also be read individually, because apart from a few hints from time to time to the past they are always completely new stories.

Mi chiamo Miriam e sono l'amministratore di Me and Books.
