Hello Books Lovers,

long time no see, ah? I know that in the last post I promised more presence on the blog, apparently I lied XD Among all the commitments that previously prevented me from writing regularly, the reader block also got in the way. As you can see from the title, today’s review is on Kingdome of copper, the sequel to City of brass by S. A. Chakraborty, I managed to complete it right on time for the review but unfortunately I could not appreciate it to the fullest.

I blame the reader block of course, because the story started to get even more interesting in the kingdom of copper. Everything has started to level up, from the political strategies in which Nahri is forced to participate, to the situation in which Dara finds himself, to the even more dangerous and delicate situation in which Ali finds himself, exiled from his kingdom, forced to wander around the desert with nowhere to go.

Surely as soon as I pass this block I will give a rereading to this volume, preparing myself for the sequel, also because I am sure that in a few days I will not remember anything of this story, as always happens when you read a book without wanting to . All in all the story, as expected, I liked a lot, even if in a month this, and the fifth volume of Vampire Academy were the only two volumes that I managed to complete.

I would say that this is not the case to write the plot by myself as usual, as you will have understood the details are not very vivid in my mind, but I leave you the plot, also trying not to spoil what happened in the first volume. I reveal that the thing I was most curious about was just reading what the relationship between Nahri and Ali’s older brother would be like after their marriage and of course after Dara disappeared from the scene.

Those were probably among the few moments, the few scenes, that helped me complete the reading even though I didn’t feel like it. I hope to soon be able to return to my old reading rhythms because I have a lot of reading to recover, but the ones that are attracting me most of all are those old sagas that I have never completed such as Vampire Academy of which I am now reading the last volume, the Armentrout trilogies, the sequel to the world of Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan and a lot of stories like that.

At this point, however, I know that I have talked more about anything other than The Kingdom of Copper, so I add a few more details before giving you the plot. Chakraborty’s writing is very detailed and yes, even fluent, and whenever there are twists or details relevant to the whole story they are written so well that they rarely make themselves understood ahead of time. Some things can be deduced, but there are those more important details that remain hidden until the end creating the right suspense. As a rating, for the moment I give 3.5 stars but I’m sure I will be able to increase the rating once I read it again.

Nahri’s life changed forever the moment she accidentally summoned Dara, a formidable, mysterious djinn, during one of her schemes. Whisked from her home in Cairo, she was thrust into the dazzling royal court of Daevabad and quickly discovered she would need all her grifter instincts to survive there.
Now, with Daevabad entrenched in the dark aftermath of the battle that saw Dara slain at Prince Ali’s hand, Nahri must forge a new path for herself, without the protection of the guardian who stole her heart or the counsel of the prince she considered a friend. But even as she embraces her heritage and the power it holds, she knows she’s been trapped in a gilded cage, watched by a king who rules from the throne that once belonged to her familyand one misstep will doom her tribe.
Meanwhile, Ali has been exiled for daring to defy his father. Hunted by assassins, adrift on the unforgiving copper sands of his ancestral land, he is forced to rely on the frightening abilities the marid, the unpredictable water spirits, have gifted him. But in doing so, he threatens to unearth a terrible secret his family has long kept buried.
And as a new century approaches and the djinn gather within Daevabad’s towering brass walls for celebrations, a threat brews unseen in the desolate north. It’s a force that would bring a storm of fire straight to the city’s gates . . . and one that seeks the aid of a warrior trapped between worlds, torn between a violent duty he can never escape and a peace he fears he will never deserve.

Mi chiamo Miriam e sono l'amministratore di Me and Books.
