Hello Books Lovers,

Can you believe that November is almost over already? The speed with which time passes seems impossible to me. Sometimes it happens to spend really boring days, other chaotic, yet the passing of the days continues rhythmic and in the blink of an eye we will find ourselves in 2022.

And just as the passage of time never stops, neither does Oscar Vault, which brought us another complete trilogy to Italy. In fact, the final volume of Victoria Schwab’s middle-grade trilogy has just been released, with the title Bridge of souls. If you haven’t read the reviews of the previous two volumes, but they would interest you, I leave you the links (city of ghosts, tunnel of bones), and if you come and follow me on tiktok, you will also find the video reviews. My user is meandbooksblog.

Between its ups and downs, this trilogy had a noteworthy ending. In this latest volume we are in New Orleans, we are back in the United States and the threat that had followed Cassie and Jacob to the airport in France is manifesting itself.

Obviously, being Cassie new in this field, she asks for help from Lara, who we met in the first book, also with the same skills as our protagonist. Lara gives her bad news. Cassie is followed by the Emissary, sent by death itself, because she has drawn its attention to her with her travels beyond the veil since she nearly died a year earlier.

Getting rid of it is certainly not an easy task, especially in a city where the ghosts are more than the inhabitants themselves and the call from the veil is constant. Cassie and Jacob should be hiding, not conspicuous, but knowing their story, do you think they will succeed?

In this book we will also find out more about the famous Society mentioned by Lara in the previous book. We will get to know some of its members, and they will be of help when ultimately the Emissary has to be defeated.

At some point they will all be in danger … I don’t want to spoil you, but in that moment, due to some events, and some characters in danger, my heart was in danger of breaking. Jacob became very powerful, and during this fight he had to give up a lot of his energy, ending up endangering his very existence.

Do I have to repeat the usual things to you? That the writing is smooth, that it is worth reading them etc? I hope you understand by now that no, you shouldn’t read it, in hindsight, but you MUST read about Cassie and Jacob’s adventures as soon as possible. I confess that if there had been a fourth book I would have read it very gladly.

In the end, being a middle-grade, it’s a pleasant, light read, without all those things, those background details, which require concentration to understand them, and memory to remember all the long-term mysteries and intrigues.

Yes, in this last volume the mysteries and doubts that we brought with us from the first book have been solved, but it was things that anyone could have remembered.

Nice nice nice.

Mi chiamo Miriam e sono l'amministratore di Me and Books.
