Hello Books Lovers,

just yesterday I finished reading the beautiful book I’m about to talk about. Thanks Mondadori for this title, it was really worth it. The dedicated review party will take place today and tomorrow, so follow the calendar to also discover the opinions of other bloggers who have read it.

The book in question is titled The Ravens, followed by The Monarchs, co-written by Danielle Paige, known for Dorothy must die, and Kass Morgan known for The 100. The book in question is a fantasy young adult, although our characters are in college and it is very Greek (the tv series) meets the witches.

What did I like most about this book? The fact that the authors have managed to intertwine university life, with study, having to make new acquaintances, life on campus, love and the responsibilities of being in a greek, a sisterhood, with being a witch and having to learn to control their powers, having to hide this from anyone not part of the sisterhood and at the same time having to face a problem and solve a mystery before things escalate.

As for the love part, I wished it had a more integral part in the story, but let’s say that everything else manages to distract enough from this detail. Our protagonists, who will tell us the story with dedicated chapters, are Vivi, the newcomer to university, freshman, who finally, after years, will be able to stay in the same place for more than a few months having always changed city and school with her mother. And then there’s Scarlett, she’s in her third year, aspiring president Kappa, the sisterhood of Ravens, the witches, and an acquaintance of magic since her childhood.

The two will not know each other in the best way, but they will end up becoming the elder-younger sister within the Kappa, and over time they will become more and more linked. And this bond will also serve when threats show up at the Kappa doors and one of the sisters is kidnapped. Years ago a terrible thing happened, and one of the girls involved is now seeking revenge, or at least this is their theory of trying to solve the mystery and avoid being exposed in front of the whole campus.

There will be a great mystery to be solved, research to be done, making this story, as the pages go by, even more interesting. I enjoyed every single chapter. Writing is super smooth, but I wouldn’t have expected anything else from Kass Morgan. And it is precisely for this reason that I give this volume 5 stars, but I expect the events of the second volume to be even more, hopefully it will come out soon, it is not long since it came out in English.

At first glance, the sisters of ultra-exclusive Kappa Rho Nu—the Ravens—seem like typical sorority girls. Ambitious, beautiful, and smart, they’re the most powerful girls on Westerly College’s Savannah, Georgia, campus.
But the Ravens aren’t just regular sorority girls. They’re witches.
Scarlett Winter has always known she’s a witch—and she’s determined to be the sorority’s president, just like her mother and sister before her. But if a painful secret from her past ever comes to light, she could lose absolutely everything . . .
Vivi Devereaux has no idea she’s a witch and she’s never lived in one place long enough to make a friend. So when she gets a coveted bid to pledge the Ravens, she vows to do whatever it takes to be part of the magical sisterhood. The only thing standing in her way is Scarlett, who doesn’t think Vivi is Ravens material.
But when a dark power rises on campus, the girls will have to put their rivalry aside to save their fellow sisters. Someone hasdiscovered the Ravens’ secret. And that someone will do anything to see these witches burn . . .
