Witches of East End - TV Shows #18

Hi Books Lovers,

Today I want to talk a bit about a TV show based on the books of Melissa de la Cruz, which you may know because she is the author of the Descendants series from which the Disney has already made two movies and is about to come out the third. Witches of East End is a TV show of 2013 that unfortunately was canceled after two seasons. Now maybe you’re wondering, but if it’s been canceled after two seasons, why are you recommending it? I am recommending it to you simply for the fact that I think it is a show that would have deserved to go on. When

they canceled it, I was upset because the story and the characters had passioned me a lot. If you decide to take my advice let me know what you think, that your judgment is positive or negative, I don’t care.

But I think you will like it. What I liked the most were the couples that were created, because in this series there is not only magic, but there is love, adventure, betrayal, and much more in just 20 episodes – 10 the first season and 10 the second.

First season

Joanna Beauchamp is a witch who lives in the remote town of East Haven with her daughters Freya and Ingrid, both unaware of the secret hidden from their family. Joanna is immortal, but is forced to live with a curse that causes her two daughters to die before reaching thirty, and then reborn immediately after a short time from each other. When Joanna’s sister Wendy arrives in town to warn her of an unspecified powerful old enemy, she finds herself forced to reveal to her daughters their true identity, which both of them were about to discover.

Second season

The portal for Asgard has been opened, and the Beauchamp family reconciles with Frederick, the son of Joanna never mentioned to her daughters. While Wendy will continue not to trust Frederick after an event in a distant past, Joanna and her two daughters Ingrid and Freya will try to find out if anything else besides Frederick has left the portal.

This time I also want to leave the characters descriptions, to get you more into the story. (My favorites are Killian Gardiner and Frederick Beauchamp ;))

Personaggi principali

  • Joanna Beauchamp (season 1-2) played by Julia Ormond.
She is an immortal witch, very powerful and full of great magical potential. She teaches art and has two daughters, Ingrid and Freya, who she loves very much and wants to protect at all costs. She has some obscure secret that she does not want to let the rest of her family find out.
  • Wendy Beauchamp (season 1-2) played by Mädchen Amick,.
She is Joanna’s sister, able to assume the appearance of a cat, and as such has nine lives. She is a witch whose powers are driven by impulses and instinct, and very often she uses them without realizing the consequences; she is a skilled voodoo witch and her specialty is amulets. She will fall in love with Tommy, a paramedic who will soon be possessed by his father’s spirit, returned to Asgard. Later she will spend his last life to save Tommy’s.
  • Freya Beauchamp (season 1-2) played by Jenna Dewan.
She is the youngest daughter of Joanna, who works as a bartender. She is a romantic and emotional girl, but also strong, courageous and determined. Her powers derive from feelings; is able to read the auras of those around her, has the gift of foresight and is an excellent preparer of potions. She is engaged to Dash Gardiner, but is also attracted to her brother, Killian, her soul mate.
  • Ingrid Beauchamp (season 1-2) played by Rachel Boston.
She is Joanna’s eldest daughter, an intelligent, thoughtful, creative librarian who is very shy and introverted. She has little confidence in herself even if she does not know all her potential well. She is a very gifted witch and her powers derive from the intellect, particularly from her inventiveness and her ingenuity. She has a wide knowledge of the magic formulas of the family Grimoire and has the ability to create new and powerful spells. While in this life she is an honest person, in one of her previous lives she was devoted to evil and this scares her a lot.
  • Killian Gardiner (season 1-2) played by Daniel Di Tomasso.
He is Dash’s brother, the soul mate of Freya, destined to be reborn each time for Freya. They are called fleeting lovers, because in every life they meet, they are soon separated from the death of one of the two.
  • Dash Gardiner (season 1-2) played by Eric Winter.
Freya’s ex, is a very obscure character, who will soon prove to be an enemy.
  • Frederick Beauchamp (season 2), played by Christian Cooke.
He is the twin brother of Freya and the younger brother of Ingrid. Returned from Asgard as an intermediary to lead the spirit of his grandfather into the world.

I leave you no rating because obviously you know that if I recommend these TV series it’s only because for me they have 5 stars. There are many that I will never bring to the blog because I didn’t like them.

Mi chiamo Miriam e sono l'amministratore di Me and Books.
