Hello Books Lovers,

we have come to the conclusion of one of the most beautiful and exciting trilogies I’ve ever read * sob * and I wish it wasn’t complete, even if reading this third book, which has become my favorite of the trilogy, was a crazy adventure though the end, oh the end, and what an end, I turned the last page and found nothing and the first thing I thought was “there must be a problem with the file”. It ends just as things start to take a different and sweet turn, and Cardan and Jude, oh how I wish I had a thousand more pages of just the two of them.

However, like all good things, this trilogy is over. Holly Black has a touch, a sense of adventure, and certainly of a very special and unique love. If you have read the first two volumes you know that the history between Cardan and Jude was anything but smooth and nice. There was hatred – or rather denied attraction – conflicts, betrayals and disappointments, nothing easy but what I hoped for from the first page was to be able to see these two characters on good terms and also in love, and don’t tell me I was the only one because I know for sure it wasn’t like that.

There was never a moment of true tenderness between the two until the time of their marriage, and even then Jude was exiled, and has since lived with her sister Vivi in the world of humans, exiled from the place where she grew up without having the opportunity to return. And as if that wasn’t enough of course Vivi has to pay the rent and Jude should contribute, and so she takes a job from a fairy in their world. Work that among all the difficulties of her execution will earn her a future ally.

When her twin sister goes to her for help, Jude doesn’t know whether to see it as good or bad. The help consist in replacing her in Locke’s death trial and since Taryn killed him she can’t go there and tell the truth, Jude can lie and get herself out of that mess, and as dangerous as it can be, Jude can’t wait to return and then accept.

And she manages to fool everyone but Cardan who would recognize her among a thousand, who wrote her many letters that she never received, and who couldn’t wait for her to come back because that between them had always been a dangerous and painful game, but never true hatred. And that’s how Jude came home, to her husband, to her realm at the exact moment when a greater threat rages.

Madoc wants the throne and will do everything to have it, but despite everything Jude wants to protect Cardan, she loves him, and together with their friends and allies, through many difficulties including the transformation of Cardan into a giant and murderous snake, they will manage to put an end to it and restore peace to the fairy world forever.

I hope you haven’t read this far if you haven’t completed the other two yet, but if you have, I hope you understand the beauty of this trilogy, and I really hope you will read and appreciate it as much as I have enjoyed it. And then if we also want to say a few words on the covers … SPECTACULAR.

Mi chiamo Miriam e sono l'amministratore di Me and Books.
