Happy Sunday everyone,
I know this article comes a little late, but the school is about to start and I had a lot to do, and as if that was not enough I had no idea about what TV show I had to talk to you this month, but then my trusty app, TV time, helped me choose the right one, a TV show that I started tracking since the release of its first episode and I loved it right away. The show in question, for which they plan six seasons, and the third is already in production, from the books of Lev Grossman, is The Magicians.
I leave the plot of the first season only, so as not to risk spoilers, hereafter:
Quentin Coldwater enrolls at Brakebills University for Magical Pedagogy to be trained as a magician, where he discovers that the magical world from his favorite childhood books is real and poses a danger to humanity. Meanwhile, the life of his childhood friend Julia is derailed when she is denied entry, and she searches for magic elsewhere.
This series has something different, intriguing, funny and many times surreal that pushes me to want other episodes, although there are no other episodes and I have a lot of TV shows I’m currently watching and I have to finish.
And the story has its logical sense, decisive time line, and not confusing like many other series I have seen.
What the producers changed were the characters’ ages. The name of Margo’s character, which in the book is called Juliet, but they were scared that people would confuse her with Julia. Kady’s character that in the books doesn’t exist, rather in her place there is Josh, ecc.
The differences are there, and those who read the books might say that the series has nothing to do with them, and I fully understand the feeling, because it is the reaction I have when I see the TV show on Shadowhunters that has nothing to do with my favorite book series, but for one like me, who has not read the trilogy, finds the show extravagant and engaging despite its modifications.
I was also thinking of publishing more articles per week, like 1 every three days, and I would need your help. If you have articles, reviews, book tags or other things in mind let me know in the comments below or even DM me on social. I will try to make them for you faithful readers, who sometimes increased, sometimes decreased. Tell me everything that goes through your head.
To the next time,
Miriam.
