The horror handbook by Paul Van Loon
Dear Books Lovers,
The funniest, most realistic and gruesome monster guide has finally arrived in Italy on October 1st 2019 thanks to Mondadori.
So many TV series and so many different films have been made to confuse us mere mortals on how to fight the creatures of the supernatural. From the historical theories new were created, sometimes absurd new ones have been extrapolated. But thanks to Paul Van Loon’s horror handbooks we can finally find out how to protect ourselves from vampires, werewolves, ghosts and all the creatures you can think of.
And Paul Van Loon not only gives us solutions on how to protect ourselves from vampires, on how to become werewolves, on how to recognize witches, but also tells us about the story of these creatures, and in addition he adds a list of the most famous movies, horror or less horror, about all the creatures he talks about in the book.
A very smooth and pleasant reading, for young and old, even if some details in my opinion are not 100% for children, not so much the details on the creatures as the details on how they kill their victims. Despite everything, it is still the perfect book for fans of the genre, and anyone who would like to know more. It is never too late to get updated on how to stay safe from the creatures that populate our world.
And if that’s not enough, the author introduces us to three of the most famous supernatural books in history. Dracula by Bram Stroker, Frankestein by Marie Shelley and Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Stephenson. Three books that great readers should not miss, also because Oscar vault from Mondadori group has republished Dracula in a completely new guise that I personally can’t wait to read. Cover on orange and black lacquered pages, what more could you want from a great classic?
What happens to a vampire when he dies? How does somebody become a werewolf? How can you protect yourself from witches? All of these questions and more are answered in this book, which will finally give you all the information you ever wanted to know about ghosts, zombies, monsters and all kinds of creepy-crawly creatures that give us the heebie-jeebies.
Full of tips, anecdotes and trivia and delightfully illustrated by Axel Scheffler Paul van Loon’s Horror Handbook is a fun and fascinating reference book for all fans of scary stories and things that go bump in the night.
