another phenomenal book is out today written by an equally phenomenal bestselling author. I’m talking about the last volume of the Darkest Minds trilogy, a spin-off, the fourth volume.
The darkest legacy is different from the first three of which you can find reviews here on the blog. If you read the trilogy you will remember Suzume, the most taciturn character, in fact she said her first word in the third book. Suzume has always been the most mysterious, we know almost nothing about Su, and this book is beautiful exactly because of that, because the protagonist is Zu and therefore we can understand more about her.
The title, the darkest legacy, says a lot about the plot. This is an adventure that Zu will have to face alone, without the help of her old friends. Years have passed since the end of Darkest Minds 3 and Zu has changed a lot. It’s not at all how we remembered it; she is much more courageous, she tries to empower the community, but soon, for reasons unknown to her, everything goes wrong.
The book begins three weeks later from the first chapter, and in the first chapter the story goes back three weeks to make us better understand what happened and get us into the heart of the adventure that will feature Zu, Roman and Priyanca.
Obviously I have nothing to tell you about the author and her writing method because if you have read the other reviews you know that Alexandra Bracken has a magical hand, a fantastic inventiveness that has created a dystopian world all to be experienced firsthand and not through reviews.
