The Afterlife of The Party by Marlene Perez
Hi Books Lovers,
I read this book, The afterlife of the party by Marlene Perez – gently sent to me by Entangled publishing which I’m immensily gratefull to for the lovely books their sending me -, more than a month ago. I said: yes, let’s read it so I’ll be ready to post the review on the release day; did I do it? Nope. I read the book and for some reasons, mostly because of university commitments, I never wrote the review, so sorry XD.
But now here I am, writing a very positive review. SHUT UP to everyone who says that vampires are overrated, I read the afterlife of the party only because vampires and other supernatural creatures were in it, I read Crave in a shorter amount of time because of vampires, and I’m now reading Crush, waiting for I’m with the banned for the same exact reason, so just because you don’t like vampiures because you got stuck in Twilight period it doesn’t mean all of them are bad, and silly and boring.
With that said let’s go back to The afterlife of the party. A beautiful book one of a trilogy I have high expectations on, so please Marlene don’t let me down. The writing is very smooth, and the adventure start almost right away trowing us into the heart of the storyline that will be.
Also, even though lately I enjoy better third person narration, I liked this first person one quite a lot. It’s very interesting to know what’s in Tansy’s mind, like how much she cares for Sky and what she’ll do for her, and how her feelings for Vaughn evolves in the book.
Everything starts exactly as the title of the book says, from a party. Sky convince Tansy to go see this, shown to be awful, band. Vaughn can’t be there at first due to a delay with his father. There Tansy understand that there’s something wrong. In fact the bad members are vampires and they use their concerts to find victims. Sky is one of their long time victims, and now they’ve abused of her too much that it looks too late to safe her.
Things from here evolves. Sky run away to find the vampire band. Tansy looks like is descending from a real family of witches, and is determined to save her friend. With her goes Vaughn, but the real hard part comes when they indeed find Sky, but also, as the plot says, find themselves in the middle of a vampire war, and it will be up to Tansy to save her best friends.
Do I recommend this book? Heck yeah. If you like fantasy then you should absolutely read it, and then come to my blog, Me and Books, and tell me what you thought of this story. Guys Vampires are coming back!!
