Teen Titans – Beast Boy by Kami Garcia & Gabriel Picolo
Welcome back Books Lovers,
a few days ago I told you about the graphic novel dedicated to Raven, by the Teen Titans, written by Kami Garcia and drawn by Gabriel Picolo. Today I’m talking about the second volume of this series of Graphic, the one dedicated to Beast Boy, my other favorite character.
As the titles suggest, each volume deals with the story of a single character, their growth, up to the discovery of their past and their powers. In this Gar, Beast Boy, discovers his past, the story that all DC fans know. His parents worked for HIVE and as a child, to fight a deadly virus, experiments were made on him.
Now BB is able to transform into any animal he wishes, use its abilities, with its distinctive green color. Here too we have new characters blended perfectly with the story told, and old extras, such as Slade Wilson, already seen in Raven.
It will be because of, or thanks to, Slade that BB and Raven will meet in the third volume, but now let’s talk about this second. BB is in his senior year of high school, yet his physical appearance is that of a 14-year-old boy. He is ignored by everyone, but luckily for him he has two great friends watching his back.
One day he decides to stop taking the medications his parents gave him from an early age, and his body changes. And it is from this moment that he decides he wants to show off with his schoolmates to show that he too can be cool. But from what was supposed to be a single photo with the university mascot, it turns into a situation to save animals, because despite claims to the contrary, the university was using the animals as guinea pigs for scientific experiments. Thanks to this BB makes a new friend.
Slightly shorter than the previous volume, this too was smooth and too quick to finish. I have already read the third one and the review will be online on the 28th, the day of its official release in the united states and canada. I’ll wait for you here on the blog in three days.
