Hello Books Lovers,

Unfortunately today the review will not be very positive. Glimmerglass and Shadowspell by Jenna Black are two of my all time favorite books. I discovered them around 2013 and I think I have reread them at least 3 times.

From the very first pages I had fallen in love with the story of Dana, with her being half-fairy, and with being a fairywalker, the only one capable of being able to live both in the world of fairies and in the world of mortals. Precisely for this reason a month ago I finally decided to conclude the reading of the trilogy. After years the story of the first two books is still very fresh in my mind.

The first two volumes had been brought to Italy readers by Newton Compton but then the translation of the third had been canceled. I therefore decided, during the Christmas period, to read Siresong in English. It took me a month to finish it, and I have already spoiled the result of the reading at the beginning of the article. I did not like it.

The thought that this book might have disappointed me had never even crossed my mind when I liked the previous two. After all, they have everything I like in a fantasy, a love triangle, interesting characters with their own characteristics, a well-constructed adventure.

But Siresong was not a worthy ending to this trilogy. It was rushed, some things in my opinion should have gone differently to make the story better. And what was missing most was the romance part that was very present in the first two books.

Maybe the problem came from the fact that I decided to complete this trilogy after at least 5 years, but at the end of reading I thought that, if I hadn’t read this third book, it would have been better. This year I vowed to be more subjective in reviews. I usually always try to find the positive in the story and reward it. But now, after all, if I like everything because I don’t want to upset anyone, what am I reviewing for?

However, the story picks up almost where it left off. Dana has made a pact with Erlking, the leader of the wild hunt, but the last thing she wants is to keep this pact and give him the power to travel to the mortal world.

However, most of the book will revolve around the journey that Dana and her father and friends will have to undertake to go to Fairy and meet Queen Selee following her invitation to court. And when I say almost the whole book, I mean exactly 75%. It is not a long book in itself, but many of the events have bored me. It had been a while since I had a book that could make me so bored, and make me read it so slowly.

The deal with Erlking is finally resolved in an absurd and hasty way, Dana doesn’t resolve the situation between herself and her mother, but the good thing is that she manages to free Ethan from the wild hunt forever.

I absolutely recommend you to read the first two books of the trilogy, at the time I read them and reread them for me they were magnificent, but when you get to the third, just pretend it has never been published and move on to the next reading.

I give two stars, but only for the few scenes where Dana and Ethan got some intimacy and proved that there is some romance in this book.
