Good morning Books Lovers,

today, thanks to Mondadori, one of the most beautiful books, or better graphic novels of 2019, is out. I’m talking about Piper written by Jay Asher author of 13 reasons why and Jessica Freeburg. Piper is the story of the magic piper.

But what I want to focus on are the illustrations. They are spectacular in their accuracy. If you read this book, stop and look at the details because really every table has been detailed to the minimum from facial expressions up to the smallest blade of grass.

And oh well, apart from the fact that you will read it in an hour, even less because there are more or less 150 tables, the story itself is very fascinating because in any case that of the magical piper is the one that has always been visited the least, and it is was always done with few details. In Piper the two authors initially talk about research done and a vague story and then begin to tell the story of Maggie, a deaf girl who lives in a village invaded by mice together with the woman who raised her.

She was never appreciated in her village, as her mother and brother hadn’t been before they died – actually reading Piper almost seems to read a book and not a graphic novel – Maggie is noticed only when this mysterious young man arrives in the village with his fife. It is proposed to eliminate all mice for a reward, and so does after studying the sound of mice.

But obviously the amount he requested – as always happens – cannot be paid and so he kidnaps all the boys in the village to get the reward. But in doing so everyone, even Maggie, loses faith in him.

The story ends in a tragic way, but it’s really the beauty of the fairy tale and the way it is told to be appreciated, and to think that initially I had not even the slightest idea what this graphic novel was about, I realized it once I started reading XD

Mi chiamo Miriam e sono l'amministratore di Me and Books.
