Books Lovers,

one question, is it possible that a book that has already had 5 stars, just because it was the best otherwise it would have received a thousand, is surpassed by the sequel? How many stars should be given to such a book?

Well, that’s exactly what happened to me with my last reading, Stephanie Garber’s Legendary published by Rizzoli, sequel to caraval . My perplexity is now about how many stars I should give to this book, having given 5 to the first and having found this more beautiful, more intriguing, more exciting, more dark and more mysterious than the first. 5 stars at this point don’t seem enough.

Legendary this time does not revolve around Scarlett, but around her younger sister who in the first book had been an important character in Scarlett’s adventure. Donatella decides to participate in this Caraval, which for the first time in history will take place a short time after the previous one and not after a year as usual to celebrate Queen Elantine’s seventy-fifth birthday, just to try to save her mother. She has made an agreement with a person she does not even know would seem able to bring her mother back to her but in return this person wants the name of the Master of Caraval to live up to his part of the agreement.

When Donatella, Scarlett, Dante, Julian and all the Caraval actors arrive in Valenda the problems for Donatella begin. She arrives at the palace later than the others and then finds out that her name is not on the list. According to her it is all a little game of Legend, the Master of Caraval, but she still manages to get a room thanks to Dante who invents an excuse saying that she is the girlfriend of the heir to the throne. Dante, however, made a huge mistake and only realizes it when he begins to be jealous of them, because the heir does not drop their cover-up, but tells everyone that Donatella is truly his girlfriend.

From here a lot of things, a lot of secrets, of mysteries to be revealed – and I must add that as couple i ship a lot Donatella and Dante, much more than I shipped Scarlett and Julian -, and much more making Legendary a book that is addictive, and from which it is difficult to detach until it is finished, but which remains in the mind of the reader for a long time even afterwards.

I usually can’t remember all the details of a book after a couple of days because I read so many that it is impossible for me to remember everything, instead with Caraval and Legend is as if I had them printed in my mind, as if I had finished read them right now. Sometimes I remember Garber’s books better than the books I wrote XD

For me this is a must-read I think you have understood by now, so even if I give it 5 stars because it is my maximum, it is as if they were all the stars of the universe, which are really, really many. I wait for Finale to arrive in Italy with such anxiety. And then even the wonderful covers, almost as if they were collectible, deserve their evaluation.

Mi chiamo Miriam e sono l'amministratore di Me and Books.
