Hello Books Lovers,

we also complete the trilogy by Mark Lawrence which has as its protagonist the badass Nona Gray, a girl who has overcome a lot of things with her head held high. From eight she began an unconventional training to become a teacher in arts such as combat and poisons, to pass through grades at the end of each course and become a sister of the convent of sweet mercy.

We left the second volume that Nona was wanted to be killed, and with her all the other nuns and apprentices. But this third volume resumes another 3 years later, a time jump that if you remember was also made between the first and second volumes.

It is finally time for Nona to complete her training, to finally receive the cassock with a particular color that will mark her future path.

But what reigns supreme in this volume are the fights, struggles, and losses, and feuds between old characters. Many characters die, perhaps too quickly and without a real logic behind it that leaves the reader a little dumbfounded, but that I have seen more often than I like to admit in books of this genre so it is forgivable.

This latest volume contains a lot indeed, but perhaps for everything it contains its prose is too accelerated. In my opinion the author should have taken more time to better describe all the different scenarios. All in all, at this point we have to judge the whole trilogy that it was not so bad. Before starting the reading I had expectations, not very high, but high enough to, unfortunately, disappoint me with the reading.

It has had a lot of ups and downs as I have told you in previous reviews, but the story has its potential, and Nona is a beautiful character to discover with time, and she goes on an interesting journey. I would recommend it, also telling you not to set high expectations and for sure you will like it. As I told you last time, if you hit some particularly slow scene, go ahead, skip a few pages.

To make an average of all three volumes, the total rating would be around 3.5 / 4 stars. To this instead I give 3.5. And as always thank you Oscar for bringing this other book to Italy as well. After all, sometimes not beautiful books are good for every reader to return to appreciate the really beautiful ones.

Mi chiamo Miriam e sono l'amministratore di Me and Books.
