Hello Books Lovers,

How are you? This last week has been a bit of a break for me, I was in exam session and then you can understand why I have not posted anything, then, for perhaps the second time in my life, I am facing crazy reader’s block. I started reading Elisabetta Cametti’s new novel Die for me, and although I am finding it very beautiful, I can’t make myself wanting to start reading, despite being spending the last few days watching movies and TV series.

However, today’s post is actually focused on the new book out today for Oscar Mondadori, and it is precisely the book we have all been waiting for, or rather the graphic novel because I’m talking about Alice Osman’s Heartstopper 3, the continuation of the story focused on Charlie and Nick who stole my heart, and what is even more interesting, in this volume the two along with their classmates go on a trip to Paris, and from here you can only imagine everything else.

This has been the best volume for me so far. The two are still exploring their relationship, Nick is still figuring out what it’s like to be bisexual, and Charlie is dealing with his insecurities. Do you all remember the way he was bullied when evrybody at school knew he was gay? Well at that time it had demoralized him a lot, leading him to hurt himself physically and mentally, and now he is reliving the same fear. He and Nick are officially together but no one knows and Charlie is afraid that if it is known, Nick will have to go through everything he went through.

Many important aspects are explored in this volume such as self-harm and food imbalances, all times always present and consistent and every time I am amazed by the way in which Alice Osman manages to insert certain delicate issues in contexts like this.

But the best part, which made me smile deeply, was when I discovered that the two were going on a trip, finally being able to be together for a while in a romantic city like Paris. But don’t think badly, nothing in particular happens, the two want to face things very slowly, they clarify it almost immediately, but it’s nice to see them go around, holding hands without worrying about others. But the best part comes only at the end, part that would be a big spoiler, and I think I’ve already done enough, what do you think?

I would stop here, but I only tell you one last thing, if you have even a little appreciation of the previous two volumes then you cannot, for any reason in the world, miss this, you would end up regretting it trust me. 5 stars is not closely enough for Heartstopper, but now I am curious to know what will ever happen in the next volume, and if you have not yet heard the news, soon this story will become a series for Netflix and it will be Alice Osman to take care of the writing of the episodes, can’t wait!

Mi chiamo Miriam e sono l'amministratore di Me and Books.
