Hey Books Lovers,

Today’s review is very special because this book will be coming out on November 9th 2021. This is a preview, spoiler-free, thanks to Tor Teen that sent me an e-ARC so that I could express my opinion on this upcoming title. All of us villains by Amanda Foody and Christine Lynn Herman, authors of Dauther of the Burning City, The Shadow Game series, Wilderlore series, The Devouring Gray duology and The drowning summer.

Now I’m, not so patiently, waiting for November to arrive so my pre-ordered copy of this book will be delivered as well. I’ll leave you the link to all of us villains amazon page if you want to check it out, which you should definetly do.

All of us villains is the fantasy book everybody want. Magic combined with a game like the hunger games, where just one will get out alive. The seven most powerful families of Ilvernath every 20 years has to choose their champion for this deadly game. The difference from the previous editions is that this time the tournament is not so secret as it was. Due to a book release explaining all the secrets of this game, the whole world now knows about it. And of course the government has to put their signature into this too.

As the blood veil drops the game will start and only one will remain alive. But despite the comparison with the hunger games, that I myself made as well, this book has something that other books don’t have. Ruthlessness is the key quality of this tournament, but this time the participant are differente from the others. There is a way to end all of this, and they all agree that this slaughter shouldn’t keep existing in 20 years. And even if there is a teeny tiny, put-aside, romance, the main point of this whole book is more than just that.

Unlike some high-quality books, that became bestsellers without being able to catch the reader into their grasp since page one, all of us villains has this quality. You can see the potential since page one. The chapters, where each follow the point of view of a different character – is it just my imagination or Alistair has more chapters than the others? – and the writing style, smooth and fast give one more point to All of us Villains. I couldn’t distinguish the touch of one author from the other. You can see, while reading, that Amanda and Christine are so in synch to think as one person when it comes to All of us Villains.

What it also has is 4 main characters with very diverse personality and at the same time very similar. They all were trained for this game since childhood, but not all of them have the same, positive, opinion on this tournament. Alistair, Isobel, Briony and Gavin want to win the game, their the Chosen ones of their families, expect Briony, and everybody count on them. Their the strongest. But once inside the Blood Veil things will start to Change. Briony want to destroy the game once and for all. Alistair wants to die because of what happened to his brother. Gavin decides to give is own life force to win this edition, and Isobel made a mistake that might cost her life.

380 pages of pure suspence, with a breath-taking ending that, more than ever, makes you want to have the sequel in your hands right away. This are the endings that make you want to wait until the duology is complete, but remember that in the publishing industry nothing is garantee. If you want a sequel make sure to preorder your copy of All of us Villains, then you can decide wether to read it right away or wait, but in doing so you will be sure to receive a copy, because covid had an effect also on publishing.

My favourite character: Alistar, because even if he calls himself monster, we’ll see, and he himself will understand, that it takes only one thing to change you. He’s not the guy everybody thought he was.

My least favourite: Elionor. Because she thought from moment one to be better than everyone. Put herself in an alliance that wasn’t going to end happily, and took all the worst choices that brought her to death.

I still don’t know wether to give this book 4 or 5 stars. I expect great things from the sequel seen the way this ended. That revelation, and the curse, and everything, and I really don’t know what to expect. I’ll give 4.5 stars, a fair average.

PS. For who was wondering, because I know many of you would like to have this kind of details before reading a book, there a representative of the LGBTQ community in All of us Villains 😉
